Conditions Of Entry
Entry to the College is by audition only. Candidates will audition in small groups and attend a separate ballet and jazz class. All candidates will then attend a drama workshop and a group vocal class. This enables the College to assess the applicant on their suitability and potential for the wide spectrum of training offered at the College. Each candidate will then demonstrate individual solo performances in dance, drama and singing.
During the audition process, parents and candidates are encouraged to discuss any aspect of the training and/or facilities. The Principal will hold an induction and answer any questions, as well as discuss in detail the audition day format. Applicants should have achieved a satisfactory level of performing arts training but not necessarily in all subjects. They should also have reached a suitable standard of academic qualification.
The application form enclosed should be completed and returned together with photographs, supporting documentation and audition fee as appropriate. Candidates will then be advised of their audition date and will be requested to confirm.
Pastoral Care & Welfare
Designated tutors are always available to listen to any problems which may be concerning students and the Principal has an appointment system to enable any student or parent to arrange a meeting. Pastoral concerns are dealt with in strict confidence and in the case of students over 18, no information is given to outside organisations or individuals without explicit permission. The College employs a personal nutrition advisor who gives guidance with regard to personal well being and healthy eating.
Accommodation
Although accommodation is not available at the College complex, a carefully compiled list of recommended accommodation with local families is available upon registration for students who do not wish to commute from home. In addition, the College owns 2 houses in Romford within easy travelling distance. Each house can accommodate 6 students.
The College Directors are very aware that students may be leaving home for the first time and advice is always readily available. The welfare of the students is vitally important so an approved list of comfortable and homely accommodation is available, which the Principal has personally vetted. Special arrangements for 4/5 nights’ accommodation per week are made for students wishing to travel home at weekends.
Students over the age of 18 years may arrange their own accommodation if they so wish.
Uniform
A full list of College uniform and correct performance attire will be sent to students before they start the first term. All uniform can be ordered at our own ‘Shuffle Hop Shop’. It is ESSENTIAL that correct attire is worn at all times. |
