AUDITIONS

Applicants will take part in dance, vocal and drama workshops, each lasting 45 minutes. Each applicant is then required to demonstrate a solo piece. This could be a dance routine/combination (tap/ballet/jazz/modern), a song (pop/ musical theatre), a drama monologue/poem or an acrobatic routine for example. Please note cassettes/CD’s must be submitted and should be cued in the right place for all audition pieces. Backing vocals on tracks will not be accepted for vocal performances; however, we do have a pianist present should you require sheet music to be played at the audition. Please clearly mark your child’s name on the cassette, CD or musical score being used at any audition. Audition pieces must NOT exceed two minutes. Please note the audition is purely to establish if the prospective student compliments students already training with us, as full merit is not awarded on talent alone. We look for future potential in order to nurture and project forward, character building, personality and a sense of self discipline, all of which are important ingredients to gain entry. We are fully aware that students may not have had any previous training or experience and this is also taken into account.

Parents are requested to attend an Introduction with the Head of School Faculty at 6.30pm, which will be followed by a studio tour.

Infant Recruitment (3 – 5 years)

4.00 pm – 4.30 pm
PARENTS’ INTRODUCTION AND TOUR OF STUDIOS AND FACILITIES

Infant recruits will be present during the parents’ introduction and will not be auditioned. Instead the Head of School faculty will give a short introduction on the school and will talk to the children. This is also a chance for prospective parents to ask any questions they may have on our establishment.

Clothes

We appreciate that students might not necessarily have the correct dance attire, so we advise them to wear comfortable clothing such as tracksuits, T-Shirts, leggings, leotards and tights. Applicants should bring tap, ballet and jazz shoes, or if they do not own any of these then trainers will be acceptable. Hair should be neatly groomed and girls should have hair securely tied back.

Refreshments

Full canteen facilities will be available all evening for both parents and applicants. Hot and cold food and drinks are served from our own ‘Stage Door Café’.
