CPA College believe that the basic technique of each discipline delivered by the course is essential to creating a multi-skilled and safe performer. We ask our tutors to go back to the technical routes of each subject for the first term of the first year so that as the course develops the student can build and strengthen each area safely in preparation for a career in the ever demanding world of the performing arts industry. It will give the students a strong core technique in each area and will hopefully help to prevent physical injuries in the dance department and alleviate vocal problems in the singing and drama departments.
All CPA 1st year students study the same broad-based range of subjects. The students are assessed throughout the year and personal feedback will be given to each student on a constructive one-one basis by each of their subject tutors. This feedback is essential for the students own development and encourages trust and respect between pupil and tutor which is a vital element for a student training for the performing arts industry.
During the third term of the first year the students will be involved in the CPA College end of year show which is performed in a London theatre. They will have the opportunity to audition for pieces created specially for CPA college by visiting and resident choreographers/directors & musical directors. Auditions are generally open to all year groups but some pieces will be year specific. During this third decisions will also be made regarding 2nd year option routes and diploma entry.
